The other day I came across a group of larrikins who were "playing" on a channel marker.

They were pretty proud of themselves as they paddled out to the market on blow-up makeshift rafts and all climbed up. Then they just stood there until they realised someone was watching. Then the foolishness kicked in.

Is it legal for people to climb up on and jump off a channel marker?

Who would be to blame if someone got hurt?

Or should mucking around on channel markers just be part of Aussie culture like drinking beer at the cricket and having a kangaroo as a pet?

I can't say any for Australia but I'm pretty sure if you did that here (U.S.) you would probably get shot by Homeland Security for... something, I'm not sure what. You just can't have any fun anymore.

They might be the transport department out there changing the batteries or something! And the blow up boats are the new issue after budget cutbacks!

ive done it before...while we were in melbourne for a regatta 2 years ago. crazy to jump off it, barnicles and cuts when you climb back up. some kids were doing flips off them and then someone belly flopped. funny as aye. dont no if its legal and parents seem to looked down on it but no one said anything.
