A British man on a dream sailing holiday in Thailand has been murdered by pirates who were attempting to steal his boat.

Malcolm Robertson and his wife Linda were on their yacht, the Mr Bean, which was anchored near the island of Koh Dong, when the raiders struck last night.

Mr Robertson, who is 64 and from Eastbourne, was reportedly beaten to death with hammers and his body then thrown overboard.

can't believe that now-a-days there are still pirate attacks. i think the authorities should patrol trouble areas more. this guy was just cruising enjoying life and these bastards come along and tear him apart.

Agree, but this may not be typical piracy. The story is that they escaped from slavery on a fishing vessel and needed food. Not a justification and probably not the whole story, but ppl do crazy shit to survive under extreme pressure.

if they were hungry then ask for some food. dont go postal with hammers. im sure the fella would have given them a feed. they should string these guys up and make an example.
