Anti-Doping

Ever wondered if those arthritis pills are giving you more than pain relief?

What about those antibiotics for the runny nose?

Or even the mandatory Berocca on the Lay Day morning after a big night before?

Are the drugs you’re taking illegal in the eyes of the World Anti-Doping Agency?

The prohibited drugs for 2009 have been released on the ISAF website.

The 2009 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods is now available to view via the ISAF Medical and Anti-Doping microsite at www.sailing.org/medical.

The Prohibited List is published by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and is the International Standard identifying Substances and Methods prohibited in sport. The 2009 Prohibited List came into effect on 1 January 2009.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Alcohol (ethanol) is prohibited In-Competition only, in the following sports. Detection will be conducted by analysis of breath and/or blood. The doping violation threshold (haematological values) is 0.10 g/L.

• Aeronautic (FAI)
• Archery (FITA, IPC)
• Automobile (FIA)
• Boules (IPC bowls)
• Karate (WKF)
• Modern Pentathlon (UIPM) for disciplines involving shooting
• Motorcycling (FIM)

Interesting…

Powerboating is mentioned, but sailing isn’t….

On a serious note – learn more about the anti-doping rules and keep sailing fair >>
