Changes in the Rules

Felix Kling at Rule2blog has created a document listing all of the changes between the 2005 rules and the first version of the 2009 rules. Unfortunately it isn’t the final copy of the 2009 rules and I haven’t had a chance to check the difference, but you can bet that the changes would be negligible.

It also includes the changes in the definitions, the most important of these being the removal of the zone, and the creation of 3 boat lengths for when a boat is about to pass the mark.

The new rules are definitely going to clear up a lot of confusion regarding mark roundings.
