Why… Oh why… Why is there wind today?

So I wake up this morning to the sound of gales. Well not quite gales, but rather a lot of action happening in the wind department.

I look outside and the trees are dancing like a midnight disco and rubbing shoulders with whatever they can lean on.

Today there is no sailing.

Today is the day AFTER the end of a regatta.

Today is the day when Mother Freaking Nature decides to through a tantrum and chuck an outburst resulting in the area having consistent breeze.

Over the past six days there have been two major regattas. Both sailed in light winds, high humidity… basically nothing. Extremely frustrating for competitors, on water Race Committee and Regatta Management.

“For crying out loud, we should have held these regattas last week!!! It was windy then!!!” This is what’s heard from basically everyone who is a local.

Here lies the question.

Why is it windy the day AFTER a regatta?

Is there some bizarre cosmic force pulling away the essence of a regatta? Is it a conspiracy?

Having wind the next day when everyone is ready to head off would have to be one of the most frustrating experiences for a sailor… And regatta organisers…
