A shed full of sailing action

There maybe some negativity surrounding the SB3 (especially beneath the surface of the LSD forums…) but at the end of the day, if a mass produced boat gets more sailors on the water, is there really anything wrong with what they sail?

The SB3 is a one-design sportsboat that really is (don’t roll your eyes) going to take the world by storm.

The International SB3 (the class was granted International Status in November by ISAF) will hold its first Australian Championships at Skandia Geelong Week in 2008 and the fleet is expected to be about 17 boats.

The sailors taking them on are:
* 2 crews from the UK
* 1 crew from the Republic of Ireland
* 4 crews from NSW
* 3 crews from Victoria
* 5 crews from Queensland

To quash a rumour that is floating, there are no people being paid to sail SB3s as a bribe to get them on the water. Many of the boats are charters but many have now been sold as well.

The importer plans to bring in 30 of these SB3s into Australia in 2008.

And before you jump to conclusions, no, LSD was not asked to talk them up. We support anything that gets people on the water. (But we are looking forward to a test sail in 2008.)
