Then if in doubt in a NEer go North first tack and in a SEer go south first (lota creek in outgoing tide) and bang the corner hard.

jesus, some of the noobs that post here amaze me. must be their first forum experience.

The longer time on one tack will give you a better feel for the breeze, you can time the oscilations etc.

Hi Guys .

Just a quick note . As the article Highlights you Test for 15 minutes on each tack you can test for a shorter period of time if you like ,but this is bare min from my experience .Not real critical if you are outside race area as you are testing speed and getting a feel for the boat and the environment .To test for a shorter period of time as you have suggested limits you on the ability to collect the vital tuning information required and does not allow the body to adapt to stretch into your race mode .this time period is Vital as it gives the body a time to stretch and get the muscles working at a race level.thanks for your input for the shorter period of time but i would suggest to tune for a loger period than you have suggested .

Pin end bandit, wake up to yourself. The very informative, well written and constructed article mentions testing your upwind speed with a tuning partner for 15mins on each tack (i.e. together). There’s no benefit to speed testing if your tuning partner is on the opposite tack as you suggest. Perhaps you should take your own advice and “read articles and think about what they mean ……”. (Also, consider wearing a pair of boxing gloves to bed to stop playing with yourself).

my point was that sailing for 15 mins would put you in a corner and you would have no idea what was going on up the mid where most races are sailed..not smart

maybe you should chill out a bit and just let aids respond to comments himself.. he is a big boy and doesn’t need a bodyguard

AKA mr Anonymoous u r clearly and idiot!!!! sailing on one tack 4 15 mins with a tuning partner on the other tack prior to the race will help you tell wich side of the course is favoursed i.e tide chop pressure etc… i think it may be more benificial for you to read articles and think about wat they mean before posting stupid comments with no prior thought
