a side to daylight saving is the reduction of power consuption. it reduces by something like 20% per captial (i cant remember exactly so dont quote). as we burn coal for power this will help save money and the enviroment.

Who knows Tillerman!!!

To quote our Premier from an interview:

"I will never change my mind on this"

However he could have been talking about a number of things that ensure Queensland really isn't the smartest state in the country.

Wait. Now I'm really confused. If NSW has Daylights Savings time, don't they put their clocks ahead in the summer? So when it's 0900 in QLD, it's 1000 in NSW, not the opposite as you said.

I just checked at http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ and they say it's currently 8:09 in Sydney and 7:09 in Brisbane. So, if that's right, then in the summer the clock in QLD is always an hour earlier than in NSW, not later.

And the bloke who lives in NSW and goes to work in QLD at 9am QLD time would be starting work at 10am NSW time so he actually gets an extra hour in bed in the morning compared to his mates working in NSW.

Of course I'm just trying to work it out logically. You live there so probably there's something I'm missing. Does the fact that you're upside down and the bathwater goes down the drain the wrong way make a difference?

Whatever. I agree with you that the eastern states should all be on the same time zone. It was really confusing when we drove from Sydney to Brisbane a few years back. You don't expect to have to change your watch when you are driving north.

Boarderline ? Does that mean that those people who wish to temporarily reside in Queensland live on one side or perhaps the smart state people mean borderline!!!

As for daylight saving - the sooner that South East Queensland gets into line with the rest of Australia the better, this crap that the curtains fade, the cows get confused or there is a greater risk of sun cancer in daylight saving is just that - crap, hello premier there is the same amount of daylight irrespective of when it is.

How many of us get up at 4.30 when the sun comes up (other than small children who know no better and wake the rest of the house) but we would all be up at 7pm enjoying more ambient light outside for a BBQ.

Forget all this rambling about having research done, forget a referendum it's time for Premier Beattie to gets some balls and make it happen - oh I forgot he's a politician - no balls!
