How far would you go to save your boat?

Ask yourself these questions…

How far would you go to save your boat?

How far would you go to save someone else’s boat?

How far would you go to save someone else’s boat, but you had no idea who that someone else was?

If you saw a boat smashing against its mooring due to strong winds, would you go and fix its lines and do a good deed for a fellow sailor?

Would you do it if it meant you could die?

A 38-year-old man has died trying to secure a yacht in storm-lashed Sydney Harbour.

The man, who was working on a waterfront building site at Mosman on Sydney’s north shore, noticed a yacht moored nearby being damaged by the wind about 8.40am (AEST) today, police said.

The man, who is yet to be formally identified, then used a dinghy to reach the yacht with the intention of securing it.

But police said it appeared the dinghy flipped tossing the man into the water.

A short time later Water Police officers and a member of the public entered the water at Little Sirius Cove and dragged him from the water unconscious.

The Water Police transferred the man to Mosman Wharf where paramedics took over, trying to resuscitate him.

He was taken by ambulance to Royal North Shore Hospital where he died a short time later.
