Is this the boat for everyone?
If I’ve noticed one thing since we started Live Sail Die, it’s that Laser sailors seem to hate Sports Boat sailors, almost as much as the sports Boat sailors hate the Laser sailors. I thought to myself that this would make an interesting article, and lead to some controversy, if the two boats were combined into one.
So… yesterday afternoon I sat down with my trusty copy of photoshop, and proceeded to edit a picture of a sports boat to have only one sail (like a laser) and add a heap of Laser branding all over it. I was going to announce that the Laser company had released a sports boat, and hopefully stir a few of out readers up.
But there was one problem.
I discovered a laser sports boat actually exists!
Now this may be common knowledge, and plethoras of people will comment below telling me I live under a rock, but could this be the boat that allows laser sailors and sports boat sailors to settle the score once and for all? Could this boat combine the best of boat worlds?
The design only launched four years ago yet managed to have 66 entries in the Cowes Week regatta, the second largest one-design fleet there.
There is already established fleets of the class in many European countries including France, Italy and Portugal. The class hasn’t hit Australia yet (afaik), but it’s sure to make waves when it does.
