Weapons on water

These things are weapons and I can only imagine the carnage they would cause on a start line or any mark of the course.

The International Moth World Championships kicked off today on a Danish Fjord. The entry list promised a super high quality regatta with many new faces joining the established font runners. Current World Champion Rohan Veal is defending his crown with the European Champion Simon Payne, and runner up Adam May theoretically his closest rivals.

With all but a couple of the 33 strong fleet now using hydrofoils this is a landmark event in the sailing World.

I think all rules would be thrown out the window with these things! Considering the speed these hydrofoil moths can reach, do you think conventional sailing rules should still apply?

There are only a handful of people in the world who can actually sail these extreme things with wings. Are you one of them? Can you keep the thing upright and actually sail it or would you be like me and spend more time swimming than sailing.

Live Sail Die wishes Rohan Veal best of luck in defending his title.
