This is Moreton Bay

This morning as I was driving to work, which is Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (“how lucky am I!?”), the sun was shining bright which made the bay glisten and sparkle like a beautiful diamond ring. I tried taking a photo of the view, but the camera just didn’t manage to capture the pure beauty.
This photo however, does show those unfamiliar with Moreton Bay just how magnificent the area is. The yacht is “Koomooloo“, which calls RQYS home and won the 1968 Sydney Hobart on corrected time and twice represented Australia at the Admiral’s Cup. In the 2005 S2H race they finished first in the IRC E Division. The guys were on their way home after competing in the 2006 Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race.
The photo was taken at Tangalooma which is on Moreton Island, just one of the many islands scattered thoughout the bay. As you can see, those who sail on Moreton Bay are some of the luckiest people in the world, because it’s one of this planets best kept secrets!
Simply spectacular! Why would you want to be anywhere else???
