Racing wraps up today… Time for recovery

Testing paitence

The forecast? Light and shitty!

Racing for 2006 Skandia Geelong Week will wrap up today with the yachts and competitors bobbing around on a flat Corio Bay in the pouring rain. Typical Victorian weather is waving the sailors goodbye for the 06 event with various presentations and seeya next year parties scheduled when the distant sun sets on the horizon.

The on shore activities have kept the entire region of Geelong entertained over the past few days with music, fine food and street performers lining the sidewalk. The week has opened the eyes of many who before this event were uneducated on the yachtie ways of continuous banter and carry on.

But the final day has brought rain and absolutely no wind to speak off, frustrating the sailors who were keen for another breezy day for one final burn around the bay.

Needless to say they will dive into the festivities to lift their drenched spirits and dance the night away to the bands on the main stage.

For the Queenslanders who traveled the long stretch of the Eastern Australian asphalt they will commence their trek back home to tell the stories of Skandia Geelong Week to the locals unable to attend the largest regatta in Australia.

From a personal point this regatta has been awesome. I totally encourage everyone to attend next year and experience the atmosphere of yachting at its finest.
